Top 12 Most Beautiful Butterflies In The World With Pictures

The reason is that one can see butterflies flying in their garden with beautiful colors and patterns. There are more than 17,500 species of butterflies found all over the world and 750 of them live only in the United States.

Butterflies are also the only group of insects whose wings are covered with scales and the biggest feature of butterflies is their ability to fold their proboscis. It is also said that the word butterfly comes from the Old English word Butterflios which actually means butterfly in modern English.

Some scientists believe that butterflies originated from the Cretaceous period, also known as the age of flowering plants. This period occurred about 65 million to 135 million years ago and was the time when dinosaurs were present around the earth.
